I got my degree!

After an emotional few days of anxious waiting and sleepless nights, I’ve finally had my degree results and classification…

Since my stress-related seizure in Sainsbury’s, I’ve spent the last three years on a mission to help others enjoy the many benefits Complementary Therapies can bring, just like how they helped me as part of my recovery after one heck of a traumatic time.  Leaving full-time office work I took the plunge and joined Cardiff Metropolitan University to study Complementary Healthcare to the highest possible standard in the UK..

Well, now my studying has come to an end. It’s been an absolutely life-changing (I know, it’s cheesy!) experience. From my placement at Marie Curie Hospice supporting the terminally ill and their families in both the day unit and the wards with reflexology, to being the first on the programme to use human tissue samples and having to undergo lab training to explore the effect of reflexology on adults with chronic stress using their spit as an outcome measure.

From studying the pathophysiology of disease, the biopsychosocial approach to healthcare, anatomy and physiology, nutrition and having conducted over 120 hours of massage, reflexology and aromatherapy case studies… it’s a challenging but beautiful three years. I have grown so much both as a therapist and personally.

I was really hoping for a 2:1 to give me the option to go on a study a Masters at some point in my career… but I’m absolutely over the moon to announce that I smashed it and I’m graduating with a First Class Honours!

All the hard work, late nights, sleepless nights, days and weekends in the library have paid off and i’m over the moon. Now to find a dress for the graduation ceremony…
